Megan Bell is a participant in Special Olympics and a member of the First Tee of North Florida. One of the Arlington Heights Elementary teachers was acquainted with EWGA member Brenda Wheeler and asked if she knew anyone who might have a set of used, left-handed clubs for a 5’ 1” young lady. An e-mail request went out to EWGA Jacksonville members and in less than a day Michele Olney responded with both the clubs and a golf bag. Other chapter members pitched in and supplied tees, ball markers, golf balls and towels to compliment the clubs.
Everything was presented to Megan and her mom on June 8th. “What a great team effort, one that I will forever by thankful for” said Olney. “Megan and her mother were both speechless from our kindness and the donation. It truly did make their day, and in turn, made ours.”
What a great way to pay it forward and encourage a young lady to continue her participation in golf. Megan can now continue to go to First Tee with her own set of clubs. Who knows, she may become a future EWGA member.
