Do I have to be an executive to Join?
No.  The organization is geared toward career-orientated women who enjoy playing in a fun and welcoming environment.

I’m not sure I want to join.  Can I play in an event prior to joining?
Yes.  Our Chapter encourages prospective members to play in one event prior to joining.  We do limit the number of events to one, unless there is a special charity or member-guest event.

What is the average cost per event?
The average cost runs around $55.  This always includes cart and greens fee.  Prices can be higher for different times of the year.

I am a new golfer.  Should I join?
Yes.  We offer a Player Development and a Mini School Program with the PGA TOUR Academy located at the World Golf Village and TPC Sawgrass, EWGA members receive a 33% discount.   Their programs are set up for all levels of play.  Go to the Home page and take a look at our Golf Education section for further details.

I shoot around 100.  Should I join?
Yes.  Our Chapter’s average handicap index is 25. This equates to the majority of our member scoring in the 90’s to 100’s per round.

I’m a competitive golfer.  Should I join?
Yes.  EWGA sponsors a championship tournament series each year.  It begins with the local Chapter Championship.  There is individual stoke and scramble team competition.  Flight winners advance to the Florida Sectional event, held in a different location each year.  Sectional winners move on to compete in the association championship.  2007 finals were held at Hermitage Golf Club, Memphis, Tennessee.   2008 finals will be held at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club, Aloha, Oregon.   In addition, our monthly chapter events vary in competitiveness.

How many members are there in the Jacksonville Chapter?
Our Chapter is over 200 women.

How often does the Chapter hold events?
We average 2 events a month from January to December.  We also offer weeknight 9 hole leagues from April to the end of September.     Visit the Events page located on the Home page.

Where do you play your events?
We play at various courses in and around Jacksonville.  We like to support our host clubs:  South Hampton, North Hampton, King & Bear, and Slammer & Squire.

Are there a minimum number of events I must participate in to stay in good standing?
No.  You may play as many or as few events each year as you desire.

Must I have an established USGA handicap index to be a member or stay a member?
No, but all EWGA members are encouraged to establish a handicap.   Every member who is playing well enough to keep score is encouraged to obtain a Handicap Index  through the EWGA Golf Life Management System (GLMS) at no additional cost.   If you want to compete in the championship tournament, you must have an USGA handicap index.

What type of formats do you play?
Our chapter plays all types of formats from individual stroke play to match play to scrambles.  We try to provide golfers of all skill levels the opportunity to participate in all events.

After I join, I would like to be more involved with the Chapter.  How can I do this? There are plenty of opportunities to get involved.  Event Coordinators always need assistance running events and there are many positions on the Board. Click on Duties of Committees located on the home page for a listing of the committees of our Chapter.  Email Barbara Arkin at BarbaraArk@aol.com if you are interested in getting more involved.
